I hold my card to the reader and nothing happens.

  • Are the red Power Indicator Lights (above Keypad and below card slot) illuminated?  This confirms there is power to the Reader.
  • Confirm the Reader is either Contactless or Dual Interface. If there is not a Contactless Interface, the reader will only read in Contact Mode. To check the Reader model number against the BridgePoint website, visit www.bridgepointsystems.com/readerselectionguide
  • Confirm whether or not the reader has PKI challenge-response enabled. If it does, then it could take between 2-3 seconds for the card and reader to complete the pKI process.

Note: This solution is for BridgePoint NX model readers being utilized in PIN-to-Card (not PIN-to-Panel) mode.
